We call her La Olly, affectionately, as if she were one of the family. We like to think of her there at our table, at your table, ready to make elegant even the simplest gesture such as adding a drizzle of oil to dishes. Yes, because here at Barazzoni we never stop thinking with mind and heart in unison. Functionality and aesthetics always proceeding side by side, in 2021 they designed OLLY, our oil cruet, together. It is a piece created by Barazzoni in collaboration with Claudio Bellini, our art director and internationally renowned designer. And it is a piece born out of a simple need: to put on the everyday table a design product of great refinement, but at an affordable price.
Our Olly has a revolutionary charm: who said that a design object has to be expensive? She is the material representation of democratic (yet classy) design for everyday use. A design that becomes a work of art, so much so that it was precisely the Olly oil cruet that proudly won the Red Dot Design Award for the Product Design 2022 section. The jury of one of the world's most important design prizes, which has been honouring the outstanding quality of designers and manufacturers since 1955, justified the award as follows: 'With its rigorously applied stylistic language, this oil cruet achieves timeless elegance, underlined by the high-quality materials used.
The Olly indeed resembles a timeless work of art. Its organic and essential design has focused on minimal but flowing lines that taper gracefully at the top, making it sinuous and elegant but also handy and ergonomic.
Olly seems to encapsulate Brancusi's sleek, streamlined sculptures, Modigliani's portraits of women with long, supple necks: its simple yet sophisticated form, reaching towards the sky, is of extraordinary grace. The mirror-polished surface in 18/10 stainless steel, a material that has become a symbol of Barazzoni, gives it a contemporary twist and a special light. But the stainless steel we use to create this little marvel is also a guarantee of optimal preservation of the yellow gold, the pride of our country, because it protects it in the best possible way from light, air and odours and keeps its health and organoleptic properties unaltered. It is therefore perfect for displaying during food preparation, especially if the kitchen is open and the pleasure of preparing food in company is shared with guests. But what if Italians cook less and less and spend less and less time in front of a beautiful table? Olly's basic but bewitching design and its light price are dedicated to everyone, but mainly to those who have lost sight of this pleasure, so that they may rediscover the profound meaning of being together at the table, with our Olly to make everything even more beautiful.
