Never underestimate the powers of a lid

There is always that slightly shy person, who never wants to be the centre of attention, but always turns out to have superpowers in every story. Exactly like the superheroes/superheroines in these stories, the pot lids are also underestimated most of the time.

There is always that slightly shy person, who never wants to be the centre of attention, but always turns out to have superpowers in every story. Exactly like the superheroes/superheroines in these stories, the pot lids are also most often underestimated. Yet, behind every lid hides much potential.

Probably the greatest power it has is that of speed: all you have to do is simply put a lid on top of your pot - or in general on top of any cooking utensil - and you have already speeded up all cooking/boiling water times considerably. The time saved is then directly proportional to the energy that can be saved. In addition, a lid manages to maintain the right humidity, thus 'recycling' condensation, which goes back into our preparation instead of evaporating.

As if that were not enough, lids also give us a helping hand when it comes to storage: say goodbye to cling film and let's start storing leftovers in the fridge with the lids we have. Impressive, no?
While lids have the power to speed up cooking, they can also slow down the cooling process so that we can always serve a good hot dish at the table; and what could be better than a good hot soup on a cold day? Probably just seconds of the soup still hot.

So, for cooking we are there, for temperature and storage also, we just have to do a fit check: many Barazzoni brand lines are designer and the lids have been specially studied and created by designers who, in addition to the aesthetic aspect, wanted to give practicality and ergonomics, obviously matching the handles of the pots. One example: the 33 Carati.

Of course, each lid has its own world, its own functionality, such as the My Pot line, which can be parked on the pot making it a smart line, or the pressure cooker lids, which are essential for this type of cooking. Even the glass lids also have their charm, because thanks to their vent valve, you can see what you are cooking. In short, to every pot its lid.

To sum up, this is why you should never underestimate the powers of a lid:

  1. It speeds up cooking (with associated time and energy savings)
  2. Maintains temperature
  3. Is versatile enough to be used for refrigerated storage
  4. Attractive and ergonomic
  5. Each lid has its own function
